Pulling away from the Browns, watching the Leytonbriar plantation shrink in the rear view, leaves Abigail with a bitter-sweet taste in her mouth and the weight of exhaustion in her bones. She rounds her shoulder a few times at the joint, before stretching her neck from side to side. Margaret notices the motion and suggests that they retire for the evening. There’s no longer a need to visit the newspaper office, as Sarah and Sasha had so much information to share. It’s been a taxing day for both. Margaret also wants to relax, and she has several calls to make. Abigail doesn’t argue. It’s late evening and even though she’d slept on the drive, her body is screaming at her to lie down and give it a break.
