Brain Log [2]

233 Words
Two whole days after my accident, the news traveled far and reached my parents since the cops couldn't find my phone to contact anyone. My whole family came down to the hospital to pay me a visit. My mother was hysterical talking about how she was worried sick when I went missing and my dad couldn't stop staring at me with sadness in his eyes. Only my big sister Miranda was smiling and continued talking to me as if I was my former self— awake and attentive because the doctors told them I could possibly hear my surroundings despite being unable to physically respond. Well, he was right. She finally revealed to us that she was having a baby boy. She’s spent six entire months of her pregnancy hiding the gender of the baby from us, mainly, because she intended it to be a surprise but right now she seems to have lost the ability to care. I did see a few droplets of tears trying to break through her equilibrium. If I could speak I would've told her to move away from the spot she was standing, the lady didn't look so happy about it. For the first time, she showed another expression other than sorrow. Anger. And I could feel the heat of her anger crawling all over my skin like an uncomfortable blanket. I wish Mira would just move.
