To her surprise, Annika was excited when the weather finally cleared and the trail was dry enough to ride again. Oh, she’d vastly enjoyed the two days the group had spent in close quarters playing together. They’d even put on a skit using assorted props Gittie had brought out, including old Halloween costumes. Either the woman spent half her profits at the local thrift store, or the staff at the Gittie-Up Ranch never threw anything away. Whichever, it paid off and the guests were entertained despite the weather. There were a few really talented and funny ones in the group, and the rest, like Annika—who never liked being in the spotlight—cheered them on. Even Velinda had cracked a smile or two as she sat between Gittie and Max, though she seemed to struggle not to show it.
