13 Rachel tossed in the bed and moaned. Holiday. What a joke. A week of endless nightmares. Some nights she got the murder scene. Other nights she got the scene with Kevin the day she told him about her pregnancy. He’d tossed the dregs of his coffee into the sink. “How could you be so incompetent? I gave you all the stuff you needed. It was your job to make sure nothing happened.” In the nightmare, she saw herself blink back tears and wrap her arms across her stomach. She’d been nauseous for weeks but hoped it was a stomach bug. False hope. She’d known. Deep down, she’d known. There would be a price, a high price for her mistake.
