Chapter 1

"I drove here. I can't drink." My voice was calm. Flora let out a cold laugh. She grabbed the wine glass in front of me and flipped her wrist. The wine splashed all over the table, soaking the corner of my clothes. "That beat-up electric scooter parked downstairs? You actually call that a car?" Flora rolled her eyes and leaned back into Eric's arms. Eric naturally wrapped his arm around her waist. Then he tossed a car key onto the table and slowly played with it between his fingers, making it rattle. "Flora, don't say that about Chloe." Eric gave me a smile full of fake kindness. "She did work three jobs a day back then just to put me through college. Without her, I wouldn't be where I am today." He pushed the car key toward me. "Chloe, see this? The newest Bentley. Our CEO personally gave me this as my exclusive car last night. She can't even function without me now." I lowered my head. My eyes landed on the metal clasp on the back of the key. There was a deep, irregular scratch on it. I recognized it immediately. This was a company vehicle key that the logistics department had reported as scrapped last week. It was already waiting to go through the auction process. Eric was nothing more than a low-level parking garage security guard who had only recently joined Sterling Department Store. But because he occasionally helped executives park their cars during his shifts, he had turned himself into my "chief driver" in front of our old classmates. Seeing that I wasn't saying anything, Eric assumed I had been intimidated. He sighed and looked at me with exaggerated pity. "Chloe, I know why you dressed like this and showed up today. You wanted to get my attention, didn't you? Your little street business went under, right? It's okay. I'll take care of you. All you have to do is pick up this glass, toast Flora and me. Tomorrow, I'll ask our CEO to arrange a lingerie counter for you at the mall. At least you'll be able to survive." The classmates around us immediately burst into laughter. "Chloe, what are you waiting for? Hurry up and thank Eric!" "Exactly. Eric is practically the CEO's favorite person now." Eric looked even more pleased with himself. He pulled several black cards out of his pocket and slammed them onto the table. "See these? Sterling Department Store's Supreme VIP Black Cards." The classmates immediately gathered around, their eyes lighting up as they passed the cards around. "Are these the legendary unlimited black cards?" Eric crossed his legs and nodded shamelessly. "That's right. With these cards, you can take any luxury item from Sterling Department Store without paying a single cent. That old woman is completely obsessed with me. She practically forced these cards into my hands." I looked at the cards on the table. Those defective counterfeits that had escaped being confiscated had somehow ended up in his hands through the black market. I picked up my fork and casually took a bite of the cold appetizer in front of me. "These cards don't even have built-in chips. They can't connect to the payment system at all." I chewed slowly before continuing. "I'm giving you some advice. Don't embarrass yourselves by taking fake goods out in public." The entire private room instantly fell silent. Eric looked like a cat whose tail had been stepped on. He slammed his hand on the table and stood up. "Chloe Halls! What the hell are you talking about?" He pointed at my face, his expression turning red with anger. "You're just jealous! A broke street vendor like you has probably never even touched something that represents the upper class. What the hell do you know?" I pulled out a napkin and calmly wiped my hands. Then I took out my phone and placed it on the table. "If these cards are really that powerful, and they really have no spending limit..." I looked up at him. "Then why don't you pay for today's reunion dinner with one of them? The bill is only $30,000."
