(POV — Lieutenant Officer Blake: the confrontation)
_____
Our recently updated unit bustled out of our large basement, grabbing our purses and jackets, locking the door, and moved down the hall to the moving metal box. Lola and John carried on bickering behind us quietly, I think this time betting dates snowfall would hit this November.
I regarded the duo in quiet softness.
The day Lola joined the Icyina Mountain Metropolitan Police Force, she had requested to work with me after being inspired by a little university talk I hosted, and John who had begun at the same time as I, said he’d always felt comfortable under my lead and liked to be a part of my team. I grinned contentedly, touched by their kindness and inspiration.
I turned my head to look at Detective Kit, momentarily leaving behind my content glances back at Lola quietly pointing her finger in John’s direction while he rolled his eyes pretending he did not care before, of course, pointing back at her to resume bickering together in hushed notes, before they both ultimately broke into quiet laughter. Before I remembered!
'Oh my god guys!' I broke down dramatically in the hall, the duo looked up at me baffled. 'My bad, but I forgot to remind you — could you please handover the draft statement I needed this morning from the crime scene review yesterday — or do you have that on you now?!'
The duo looked back up in my direction, before quickly running back down the hall promising to print it off and meet back upstairs. I blinked at them relaxedly, grateful for the homey team I'd been given. They were so cute.
I returned to just moving down in the direction of the lift instead of reviewing the last-minute mental list of things I needed to complete by tonight. But I gulped. Because it was now just Detective Kit and I. Crap.
I pushed the button, Detective Kit’s heels lulling by my side. I popped in, then Detective Kit proceeded behind me.
It was refreshingly quiet inside, but just as intimidating. A low chill had jumped the moment Lola and John had left me and I begun to regret my need to be on the ball with work. But I did not regret the people I'd be helping getting this done quickly as per my responsibility.
I peeked a look at her. I regretted it. If I thought she didn't like us before, that's nothing compared to now. Her icy pools had been boring into the side of my head and now into my petrified ones. But something in the manner the dim lift illuminated dim gloomy outlines on her body, document holder in hand, brought this quiet brooding dangerous climate.
‘How often do they do…that? Lieutenant Officer Blake.’ Detective Kit purred blankly, her hands locked round her body, back leaning on the moving metal box. I gulped, looking at her lips moving. I really didn't think anyone could look more gorgeous, the mirror reflecting her divinity.
I retraced the path her downturned lips paved, grinning sheepishly at the thought of my unit once more — daily, I mused to myself before blinking. ‘…Oh! That.' I breathed out contentedly. 'Don't worry, I just forgot to remind them, my bad!'
Her head c****d to the right blinking, piqued, regarding me unhurriedly, before breathing lowly. 'Hmm...' The lady rested her delicate head in the other direction before regarding me up and down quietly in the dim compartment. 'I hope you don't mind my desire to close this investigation with minimal delay...Lieutenant Officer.'
I gulped looking at her plump lips. I could barely organise my thoughts looking into her orbs — the way they glimmered glamorously like glittering city lights, like that delicate necklace round her neck, incredibly dark like the cool night, lined with black Kohl and thick lashes. Then her plump lips uttering those words so lowly I thought they were like declarations of love murmured quietly into my neck. Her look was immeasurably captivating, pulling me under, holding me down into the depths of the Icyina mountain rivers, drowning my thoughts, that I practically lost her previous statement.
Then the metal box dinged but she clicked out briskly, not caring to hear my response. Instead, her body reclined by the lobby lounge chairs and began reviewing important documents indicated by the way her orbs darted quickly line by line. Later our group stepped out into the brisk cold city and parted ways at the car park. But the bad news was that Detective Kit came by some mysterious magical carriage ride, meaning I had to be stuck in a closed moving compartment with her…Crap.
I picked out my sleek black car and guided her over, hopping in.
The moment she climbed in, her perfume quietly drifted and brushed my nose in quiet whispers. I just prayed I wouldn’t crash my baby — I blinked my eyes closed thinking of the first time I saw her at the dealership. I hoped that I could get home quickly too because I could barely reign my hormones in.
