CONTINUED PROLOGUE 🎵| eyes don't lie (slowed reverb) - Isabel LaRosa _______ Monday The cold rain lifted over the drab grey Icyina Mountain Metropolitan Police building – the glistening windows gushing with metallic rain as thunder rumbled overhead. The Cyber & Violent Crimes Unit had gotten wind that they would receive the mysterious god-like Detective Kit in this case. But problematically, they had never been graced by her know-how nor looked upon her. Meaning – they did not know whom it was they were looking for or if this peculiar person in question had already decided to drop in through their great revolving doors. They could only give heed to the receptionist to kindly provide room location details to Detective Kit. The large room being conveniently located in the basement that took up the lower back building-grounds posing as their ‘Main Hub of CVC Intelligence’ as Lola liked to label it, contrary to the Inner City Police Station’s Chief label ‘cave’ and insistence they could pick a better ‘ground level’ office instead of being hidden down there like ‘moles’ – however they thought it was the perfect place for nerds like them to hole up and type away at unusual cyber cases. Hmm. The Lieutenant Officer thought to herself, pacing down the length of grey carpet. The cloud-coloured room had just a couple gray carpet-to-ceiling windows – random large desks, computers, cabinets, and the scent of recently printed paper decorating it. A kind of basement that had a good portion of light coming in because the building had been built on an inclining hill in the mountainous district of their city that was due for winter any minute now. Lieutenant Officer Blake Bora donned confident but quiet black heels, a blue pencil skirt, a black jumper, and her inky black curly hair pouring down her back – a quiet cute gothic kinda look. But heads turned no matter the location. Rather inconveniently perhaps, like not being able to take 5 steps out to her car without a guy trying to unconvincingly begin conversation. Or like trying to read criminals their rights and get in the goddamn police car but they’re just rooted there grinning like it had just become the best day now, like ‘La-la-la-la’ had begun playing in the background, or like lavender petals had begun blowing in the nonexistent wind. Though the Lieutenant Officer usually knocked them out cold to the ground in one clean blow, arrested the i***t, and threw them into the back of her patrol car like a bag of potatoes, to their dismay. …Lieutenant Officer Blake Bora bore dimples, quiet rounded glossy lips, a cute low nose, and dark thick brows gracing her mocha complexion, with darker lashes rimming her kind obsidian orbs that hid countless deep thoughts – a look people got lost in and mistook for the glittering night if they looked long into them. One quiet beauty that relieved the burdened minds of those round her ordinarily through her presence – but it was her kind, quiet but leader-like disposition that really brought the magic together. A born leader – quiet in a confident but introverted way. Plus cute. Lieutenant Officer Blake kept pacing, a light pout curling on her bottom lip deep in thought, ignoring Lola and John bickering. The pair’s heads bobbled loudly in their usual battles. They were going back and forth on debunked theories and could not get any point past than what their unit had managed to conclude recently on the peculiar case. Lola Liu had long luscious black hair down her back, rounded brows, kind dark orbs, and lips breaking into her usual grin. John James‘ quiet eyes hid behind black glasses that ran down the length of his nose, probing his thick dark brow up high in a quiet laugh. The pair both wore their usual dark clothing like most police force did. ‘How cool do you think the detective’ll be?’ Officer Lola popped, moving the candy in her mouth in concentration. Her notes blinked back up at her. ‘I don’t know beats me.’ Officer John mumbled in concentration before pushing his thick black rimmed glasses up, ‘Please kindly quieten up though – it’s only 10 in the morning.’ Nobody really comprehended how involved Detective Kit was in these prolific cases. However, one thing the police force did know was that the individual had made herself into quite the living legend…particularly for peculiar cases like this one – though the detective usually worked alone or with a group of handpicked people – could they really be blamed for not knowing? On the other hand, the disorganised, ignored, left to run cold coffees or teas – though tea was mostly preferred here – littered on the table could be pinned on them. Regardless, documents were re-reviewed, grey carpets paced, and laptop keys clicked on. Their lips now puffing in dismay, hands impatiently drumming against the desk, and eyes collectively holding dark circles big enough to rival raccoons - courtesy previous nights pouring over documents. Gloomy could describe the current mood. Out of nowhere, the door handle jolted, then the large black door clicked open quietly. The clicks were loud and cold, reverberating round the room. Then, pausing by the table to look round the group of three. The ghoul looked back blankly. ‘Detective Kit here,’ her delicate lips murmured quietly, dragging her pretty but cold dim icy pools dangerously per unit member in calculating detail, ‘I believe you know Gordon sent me down here.’ Her delicate voice purred coldly into more of a confident declaration than a question. But her perfectly manicured brow probed up unnecessarily, looking round the room at the black-haired lady calmly holding the jilted documents now preoccupied by the beauty, the brown-haired man hiding behind the laptop, and the curly-haired lady perching lone by the board – making sure no poor mind here wasted her precious dwindling downtime. Being dumped on this cold case during her holiday could barely be part of her dream holiday plan, but that pesky whining old man believed it was. Detective Kit had promptly blocked his number in result. Could be in Montreal right now… ‘Good.’ Her lips curled up dangerously into a ghost of a grin. The buzzing chill in the room told them that the detective rarely did that in genuine human kindness… But it looked dangerously beautiful. In response, Lieutenant Blake moved her line of vision up Detective Kit. Up her void black heels, luxurious ink black pants, her delicate black blouse tucked into them with rolled cuffs, the delicious thin black bow loosely placed round her collar – then her moist plum coloured lips, then blinked. Drool had pooled in her mouth so Blake quickly swallowed. Blake was lucky that the Detective had her cat-like orbs, rimmed by night black Kohl, pinned on the documents in Lola’s hands. … Lieutenant Blake Bora thought that her reaction was odd.
