Bioluminescent algae and specks of stardust hovered around Masanori’s heels as he strode from Nightcastle’s lowest pier, which floated over the ocean rather than the sky. The precarious trail beneath the water would lead him, sooner or later, to the dreamweed pool, but until then, he was alone with the water and the stars.
