The Mission

270 Words
I always thought high school drama was petty—until I found myself in the midst of it, on a mission to solve a murder. Summer Montgomery. Genius, undercover agent. Yep, that's me. Unravelling complex puzzles was my forte, but going back to the halls of a prestigious high school, not so much. But this was my life now. The school I was able to leave at just fifteen to pursue my dream job, was where I was thrust back into at eighteen. And it was all because of her. Anastasia Wuthering. The beautiful, bold, and intelligent Anastasia Wuthering, who was both the reason for my escape from this hell and my return. The irony. Everyone adored Anastasia, often claiming she was heaven incarnate on Earth. They were obviously lying because the girl was the biggest bully on campus. Even Satan would cower in shame in her presence. Despite this, however, no one dared to speak out. Why? Because Anastasia Wuthering owned the school. Literally. Her father was the owner of Wuthering Heights College, and the school's board of directors comprised seventy per cent of her family members. Speaking a single word against her would not only cost you your place at the most prestigious college in the country but also blacklist you from any other institution. That's how influential the Wuthering name was. However, it seemed someone had finally had enough. The beautiful Anastasia Wuthering, who had the entire world falling at her feet, was now dead—murdered in cold blood. And I was back at this hellhole for one simple reason: to find her murderer.
