CHAPTER 5: THE BEING OF DARKNESS

In the light of the whole forest because of the full moon, I can easily cross the forest, No matter what happens I jump, I get away from the branches and roots of the trees. I did everything just to get away from that creature.Little by little I felt tired so I looked for a place to hide and I saw a big fertile mango tree So I ran towards it. Therefore, I was short of breath and it looked like I had taken a bath because of the sweat that my body released. I'm a little tired because I rested.

Just for a few moments and all of a sudden the surroundings became quiet and I felt a sense of horror. I heard the loud flapping and flapping of huge wings tearing through the trees in its path.Followed by the loud chirping of the TikTik bird.When the sound of TikTik subsided, I took a deep breath. I thought there was no problem because it was far away. I just thought so.

Suddenly, something fell on my neck so I grabbed it and looked at it, it was black and smelled of rust. I realized it was blood. So I dodged and turned away towards the tree and there I saw the shocking creature. It was bent on a branch, its skin blackened and shiny as if it had been bathed in oil. Messy hair that moves like it has a life of its own.

It's right eye were crimson as the other was damaged eye oozing with blood as it stares at me with anger so I firmly clasp my weapon and struck it in the ground unknowingly. My body just moved without realising.

This creature is known as KUBOT

"KYAHHH!!!". It shrieked and then it's hair pricked making it look like a humanoid porcupine as they elongated and attacked me. But I retrieved the sword and dodged in the nick of time. as it punctured the tree behind me earlier. I reacted like I was honed in a battlefield. I immediately slashed at the hair and cut it. It felt like iron strings when I I touched it.

I looked but It was nowhere to be found so I made a stance when I remembered something when I heard one of the loiterers said a few days ago when entering their house shouting at her sons. Like spreading salt and garlic at there house. I just remembered that I have salt in my pocket for dipping of the green mango I sold so I took it when I heard a movement in the bushes. I teared the plastic bag and squatted and gazed the the rattling sound of branches.

I splashed the salt on it and I heard a scream as if hot water had been splashed on it and it came out of hiding. As it reveal its piranha-like teeth. As it was very angry and attacked head on. I kicked him in the chest but my kick just slipped because of the oil on his body so I was off balance and fell down. I let go of my weapon so He got a chance to lynch and wrap me in hair. I shudder because of the movement of his hairs crawling on my stomach like little snakes as thin as threads. So I grabbed whatever I could grab and threw it at him.

But it didn't do anything because her long hair only blocked it. And I already have a lighter that I use for lighting. And because of this I came up with a plan. I saw small stones that are next to me so I picked it up then I threw it at him which was caught by his hair and set it on fire which quickly grew because of the oil in his hair loosing it's grip on me. As the sulfuric smell permeates in the air. I stood up and picked the sword as the crawling creature growls at me as it it jumped towards me to attack.

And I'm going to hit it, I'm going to stab it while it's in the air. It's still very agile even though it has burns on its body and hair. He snorts as if trying to hold back a sneeze at the pungent smell. I rushed to Him while I had a chance to stab the Kris in his chest but he dodged it. and hit his side and I cut it causing him to scream in pain. He punched me in the stomach which shocked me and made me step back because of the intensity of the punch he released. I staggered in pain because it felt like I was punch by a bowling ball squashing my organs. So I spit blood from it.

I felt very sluggish and felt like the time slowed and my vision became blurry as I saw colours and heard a faint banging of the gongs with ethnic rhythm and saw in my vision a majestic back of a firmly standing warrior. I want to be as great as him. I gained my clarity and stood firmly with renewed strength and motivation. I don't want it to end here.

As I saw him get near me I slashed forward and downward diving him a nasty cut in the chest. I squatted and slashed his legs making him kneel. I stood and delivered my final attack as I slashed horizontally beheading it's head.

"AHHHGGGG!!!!". I shout at the horizon as I cried in victory and laid down as I lose consciousness.

Tiktik- a bird like Aswang that is also considered one of the Aswang familiar. It is a sign that an Aswang is nearby with it's deceptive chirping. It's name came from the sound of it's chirp Tiktik and what it does. It scouts the surrounding and TikTik literally means Look-Out or Spy. It's also a shapeshifter that can get it's own victim

KUBOT- This is a type of Aswang that mainly uses it's hair as a tool to lynch and suffocate it's victim to death to feast at the corpse's blood and flesh.
