Chapter 5 : With Soft Spoken Words

1037 Words
"Did you see him? I've heard a few things about him being one hell of a man," asked Beatrix as we made our way downstairs to my demise. I pretend to ponder over a bit over her question but I already had the answer. For the first time, I agreed with my sister calling a man hot. "Surprisingly for an Ardolf yes, he is one hot piece." We giggled descending a few more steps down. Pausing, I straightened the blue dress I had on. It was a swallowtail deep blue coloured dress with an off-shoulder boat neck that hugged my upper body and slim waist. After I had steamed off from Katalina's room, Beatrix landed me this dress she wasn't interested in wearing anytime soon since it was 'too girly' for her. Not that I was impressed with that dress either but at least it seemed better than the one her mother arranged for me. Oh, she will be paying for that later. "I have heard he has twin brothers too. Now that you mention his hotness, I might be interested in these arranged mafia marriages with one of those." a devilish smile appeared on Beatrix's face as I threw her a disgusted look. "Ask me," I said preparing myself for the upcoming face-off with the Crassus. A part of me was already aware of how bad it would end up but if it was what my father wanted then he would see it for himself how stupid his decision is. As I began to walk down the last couple of steps to the lounge where everyone was gathered, Beatrix stopped me midway. "You can still run away." Just when I thought she was going to say something serious... I shot her a glare to which she just shrugged. "What? I am in no mood for a deadly m******e to happen tonight." "Don't worry, Raphael will leave alive tonight." unless he tries something, in that case, it would get a lot messier. Giving her one last look, I head off to the huge lounge downstairs. The chandeliers illuminated the lounge and the mansion looked magnificent under the light. Servants ran here and there serving drinks as they managed every need of the guests along with the preparation of the dinner. I almost feel like I am getting married tonight and that's, unlike for many other girls, quite disgusting for me. Unnoticingly, I patted my thigh where the gun holster was tied and my favourite pistol rested in it. It's playtime. My footsteps echoed in the hall as I marched towards a bunch of people sitting in the centre. Katalina, noticing my arrival, hopped off her chair and rushed to me. "Oh, finally she is here!" she gushed in a disgusting enthusiasm coted voice. I refrained from rolling my eyes at her fake enthusiasm towards me. "Come, Iris," she spoke in a bittersweet voice which I swiftly ignored and walked past her ignoring her presence. A few steps ahead, I noticed the group of people sitting there with their eyes fixated on me like they would stare at a product each time before considering buying it. I swear, I'll scratch their eyes out if they didn't stop ogling me. I narrowed my eyes on a few people there. My father sat on his head chair and beside him was a woman seated in her mid 40's with a sharp look on her face and another young girl sat beside her. As much as I hate to ask it, where are the men of the family? Then my eyes travelled to the other couch where I plopped on without feeling the need to introduce myself. Father cleared his throat when noticing my behaviour, "Meet Marilyn Crassus, Raphael's Aunt." The woman seated beside him turned out to be an aunt which I could have guessed since the whole mafia world knows about his mother. The heads of the Crassus family were never out in a public gathering after Lenox Crassus, the father broke some deadly rules. How did he manage to live, I am still shocked. I did not attempt to introduce myself and instead nodded slightly. The cringe of the whole scenario made me want to throw up but I had still a job left that involved getting Raphael to call off the wedding whether it be with soft-spoken words or a gun held to his forehead. This should be fun if I could only find him, the most hated man of the evening. "Oh, she's very unlike you Mr Bentley. She could be tamed." The woman eyed me scrutinizing every aspect of my body as I was some object which needed some finishing touches. A spark of anger mixed with a bit of humour sparked inside me. That woman had the audacity to tell me as to how I could be f*****g "tamed"? "You don't deal with the ones you learnt from." I smiled and picked off a glass of champagne before deciding to take a seat across from her. Her eyes narrowed and she exchanged a look with her father who didn't exactly look pleased. "Come on I am not a 2 year old, everybody knows what a f****d up deal this wedding is for you all." I sipped on my drink, waiting for a reaction from them. "Well, then it should be easier for you to get along with it." the woman commented. I laughed a little beginning to enjoy their unintentional sense of humour. "Where's he? Raphael?" I deadpanned as my voice turned a bit deep. I wasn't supposed to be among them for this long might as well find my so-called fiancé. "He's outside." for the first time the young girl spoke up gaining attention from almost everyone in the room. I nodded hastily and got up. "Leia." Father sopped me midway, but I didn't bother turning around. I was disappointed enough with him already. "Be nice, after all, he will be your husband soon." his voice came. Damn, one more word and I'll puke. However, a devilish smile appeared on my lips as I faced the doorway thinking of all the 'nice things' I was planning to say to him. "Of course Father."
