Chapter 10

1349 Words
When Naledi got home the following day, it was late in the afternoon. She was still sore from the aftermath of the previous night. Kay did not give her a rest. His continued torture on her for most part of the night drained her energy off. She had slept in and was woken up by the smell of frying bacon. It was unexpected since he was a vegetarian. The thought of him going through all that to ensure she enjoyed her meal made her swell with pride, she was touched beyond measure. He had proceeded to serve her breakfast in bed. She was blown away by his thoughtfulness and consideration. He had insisted that since it was a Sunday there was no need for her to rush back to her apartment, so they ended up spending the entire day together. He could not keep his hands off her. Upon realising that he had been a bit rough and not giving her a break he let go. “Just for today” He had said She could not help but poke her tongue at him and that nearly costed her the much needed rest. She had to run away from his grasp and around the kitchen island with Kay in pursuit, promising her the worst form of punishment if he could manage to catch up with her. She was still occupied with thoughts of him. She did not realise that she had reached her residence and was parked by the driveway lost in hers and Kay’s world. She was jolted back to reality by a knock at her car window. “Oh no, not him please, what is he doing here?” She muttered to herself,  grabbed her handbag and stepped out of the car. He followed her “Where have you been?” She was annoyed with him “Why would you ask me such a question Terence, now you are keeping a tab on me?” “Naledi, it has been two days! I have been worried sick about you.” “Are you not supposed to be worrying about your wife and kids?” “That is beside the point.” He shot back and went ahead of her into the House. “Dude! Honestly, I don’t have time for this. You can see that I am fine and do not need constant monitoring” “It is another guy right? Who is it Naledi?” He yelled “Not that it is any of your business, but yes, there is someone in my life now Terence, so deal with it”. “Please make sure to bang the door on your way out” She disappeared up the stairs to her room leaving him with his mouth open, anger boiling inside him. He stormed out of the House and he indeed banged the door with so much rage that the house shook and rattled. Little did he know that he was being watched. A few snap shots and the black car slowly drove by and out of the complex                                                                                         *** Kay had postponed a meeting between himself and his lieutenants. Gee was not happy with that.  “This is the second time you have brought her to the farm Kay” He was not impressed with his boss. “Mind your words when you are talking to me Gee” His cold tone reverberated through the line. Although he talked in a measured manner, one could not miss the dominance in his voice. “I mean this is not like you, I am afraid you are getting soft and this will make you slip” Gee continued, indifferent to the repercussions. If there was anyone in the entire enterprise who could be open enough to be honest with their boss it was him. Their association went deeper than that. They had been through a lot together. He was indebted to Kay and he considered him his brother and best friend more than anything else. When he took him from the streets, as a broken boy he gave him what no one did in his entire life of existence. He would lay his life down for him and Kay trusted him with his life as well. Their bond ran way deeper than blood. Gee was his keeper. “Did you do as I instructed?” “Yes Kay, we are monitoring her. There will be a physical, audio and video surveillance at all times” “Ensure that she does not suspect a thing.” “Yes Kay, it shall be so” “One more thing Gee, her safety is now your concern, I  trust you will arrange for her security. She is in your hands from now onwards” He did not wait for his response and hung up the phone. He hated it when Kay loses his cool. He was supposed to be the calm one. His temperament was not reckless. Most times he was as cool as a cucumber. A mastermind who could plot, scheme and even solve the most complex situation. He was generous and would often assist those in dire need, setting up businesses for them to alleviate themselves from poverty. This earned him respect and loyalty. Gee on the other hand was ruthless. He used extreme violence to stamp authority. Some of his torturing methods were despicable. No one dared cross him. Kay’s indifference to a lot of things including his own life worried him. However, since he was the one in charge of his security, he knew his boss would be safe, as long as he was still alive. That on its own was a relief and made him at ease. Gee made a quick call to tie up the loose ends. “What is your report on her?” He was intently listening to the other person on the line, stone-faced. His phone buzzed and he opened it to receive the file sent. It was indeed a picture of a man. “I need to know who goes in and out, time and specifics. Be aware of who she meets and what she does” He instructed. “I would also want a background check on the man.” “We have already done some preliminaries and it seems they work together. He is a senior manager in charge of the human resources” “One more thing Sir…” “Go on…. “There are couple of text messages exchanged between the two, it happens from time to time.” Gee did not like the tone of it. He listened intently as the person on the other side of the line read out some extracts of the messages shared between the two. “When was the last exchange between them?” “There are couple of message sent by him this morning and she did not respond to them.” “Are you going to wait for me to ask you to tell me what the messages say” He growled as he impatiently waited. “Send through all the communication between those two” He hung up the phone. This was not good, knowing Kay, he was going to flip. He knew him well enough to realise that he was already smitten with her, if not worse. For him to spend a night with a woman was unheard of. It was usually a brief encounter for an hour or so. He would never have a woman more than twice. Most times he chose not even to know their names or anything about them. He would never allow weakness and vulnerable in his life. But what was worse with the particular case at hand, he took her to his farmhouse, not once, twice! She even spent the entire night with him This was not the Kay he knew, he had no room in his heart when it came to the opposite s*x. His enterprise was his priority. For him to have missed a meeting that morning… He shuddered at the thought of what that could mean. Something had to be done and it was to be done fast before the situation got out of control. As his brother’s keeper, it was upon him. Just then, his frozen face melted into a sinister smile. He knew exactly how he was going to arrest the situation. The ultimate goal was to protect Kay from himself...
