Chapter Two
Raven’s P.O.V
I stayed quiet as Alex drove the car into town. It’s so upsetting that an amazingly special day like today, the day we bring our baby boy home, is almost ruined by what happened last night. I can’t believe that Alex was keeping something like this a secret from me.
A f*****g Serial killer!? Really?
I looked over at my Fiance in the driver's seat. He was focused on the road, but I could tell he was trying to get into my mind and find out what I was thinking about.
‘Stay out of my mind’. I warned him bluntly.
‘Sorry, I just wanna make sure you’re ok’. I took a deep breath, I really didn’t want this day to be full of arguments.
‘I’m fine, Please, Can we not do this now, We’re on the way to get our son’. He just nodded and the rest of the car right was silent after that.
Climbing out of the car, I took a moment to take a few deep breaths. I was so excited but so nervous at the same time. Yeah, of course, we had Parker, and I loved her so much, but, this was a baby. A newborn, Tiny little baby that is going to be completely dependant on Alex and me.
I shook my head, What was I saying?!
This was something I’d been looking forward to for Months Since we decided to do this. A smile broke out on my face, and I couldn’t control myself from letting out a happy squeal.
Alex walked around the car and came over to me, Arms open wide. I walked into them and he wrapped his arms around me, Cuddling me tight.
‘You ready to become a mummy?’ I smiled against his chest.
‘I’m already a mummy’.
‘Very true, but a mummy to a baby, silly’. I nodded. ‘Let's go!’ We pulled away from each other and walked inside, hand-in-hand.
We sat in the office, Going over the last bits of paperwork, and sighing off on the official adoption.
‘Right, that is everything, Someone will bring your baby in shortly. Obviously, we do have to remind you that, since it is a human baby you will be responsible for its safety against others as it grows older and you will have to notify us if the human decides to become a vampire... Or if there is any… incidences’. We nodded. Of course, that was completely understood from day one, however, no-one would want to put themselves in such a position as to cause harm to our baby, due to his family name.
Tavish AND Poe carry A LOT of weight around the realm these days.
Unlike how my parents did with me, Alexander and I have decided that he will be raised in the Vampire world, Not the Human one.
We figured that in a long run, it was probably safer for him. He could grow up, knowing how to deal with Vampires, and thus when it came time to make the choice, we would know, one hundred percent the ins and outs on deciding if he wanted to become like us or not.
If he so chose to stay human, then that was his choice. We wouldn’t love him any less.
There was a small knock at the door, bringing me out of my thoughts.
The man behind the desk stood and walked over to it. The second he opened the door, my non-beating heart jumped out of my chest.
My son.
In walked a young woman, carrying the small bundle of joy, close to her. It's weird to think, This was the same building, the same people who sell humans into slavery... Or worse every single day, but a HUMAN BABY… they seem to take extra care to make sure they go to people who will truly care for them.
I didn’t quite understand it, but at the same time, I was so glad that they cared… A baby is an innocent soul. So sweet and pure.
Shaking my head, I stepped forward, towards the woman.
I wanted to hold him.
‘May I hold him?’ I asked, Worried in case for whatever reason she said no, but she didn’t. She smiled and nodded at me, and carefully placed the small baby in my waiting arms.
It was only a few days ago that I saw him, Yet I looked at him with eyes as if I had never seen him before. The rush of love that came over me was so overpowering. I almost wanted to cry, just looking at him.
‘So, Can we take him home now?’ Alexander was the one to break the silence, while I just continued to stare down at the boy in my arms, His perfect eyes were closed, sleeping, he looked so peaceful.
‘Of course’.
I completely tuned out their conversation and sat down in my seat again.
I’ve never been so happy, in my whole entire life.
Alexander carefully placed Orion into his car seat and locked in him. Making sure we were all safe. I climbed into the front but, I was watching him in my mirror, I couldn’t take my eyes off him.
While Alex got in himself, I leaned back and closed my eyes.
I could hear his tiny heartbeat, I could hear his almost silent breathing. I even tried to hear his thoughts, but, strangely, babies don’t have thoughts. It's just… gibberish.
I could feel Alexanders eyes on me looked over at him.
‘What?’ I asked with a smile. He just smiled back, clearly as happy as me. Taking my hand in his, He kissed it.
‘I’m just so happy. Everything is coming together so amazingly’.
‘I agree. I love you’.
‘I love you too’. Leaning over, out of my seat, I kissed his lips softly. ‘Do you want to phone the family?’ I nodded and took my phone out, Dialing my mum's number, she was looking after Parker at the moment, I pressed it to my ear and waited for her to answer.
I didn’t have to wait long.
‘Hello?’
‘Hey mum, It’s me’ Obviously, ‘Me and Alex are heading home now, can you do me a favour?’
‘Of course’.
‘Can you and dad get everyone to our house in the next hour or so, we have a family surprise’.
‘Sure honey, Shall I tell Chris?’ I smiled. I was so happy that they were in a good place that she even thought about him, to ask. I was going to tell her to contact him even if she didn’t remember, but the fact that she did, made me happy.
‘Please’ We spoke a little more, Luckily Orian didn’t wake up and cry, ruining the surprise. She told me she’d get right on the phone to the family and then we said our goodbyes and hung up.
‘All sorted?’ I nodded. ‘Good’.
Placing my hand on Alexanders knee as he drove us home, I rested back in my seat, smiling happily to myself at how today was going.
Fucking perfect.
