Chapte 6: Easter Middle Tree

801 Words
As the train pulled into Circus City, Henry stepped onto the platform, his boots clicking softly against the worn stone. A cool breeze drifted through the air, carrying the faint scent of pine and damp earth. Circus City had a unique charm, a quiet sanctuary nestled within a dense forest. Only a few houses and local shops lined the streets, their warm lights flickering in the tranquil night. The city moved at its own pace unhurried and peaceful. Even at this late hour, a handful of people strolled through the streets, engaged in hushed conversations or simply enjoying the stillness. Henry took a deep breath and sighed. His destination lay beyond the city’s border, deep within the Eastern Middle Forest. There, hidden among the trees, stood his true objective, a tree unlike any other. This was no ordinary tree. It did not require brute strength or combat to claim. Instead, its greatest defense lay in the intricate illusions surrounding it. The Eastern Middle Forest Tree was a rare, evolved species with a unique characteristic: it released an airborne substance that clouded the minds of those who approached. Anyone who wandered too close would find themselves trapped in an endless maze of hallucinations, unable to reach the tree no matter how fast or strong they were. But Henry wasn’t just anyone. As an expert player in the game world, he knew exactly how to counter this challenge. Reaching into his pouch, he retrieved a small glass vial filled with a shimmering blue liquid. Without hesitation, he uncorked it and drank, the potion coursing through his veins, heightening his senses. /Flinch/ A shiver ran through him as the cold night air wrapped around his body. He exhaled, steadying himself. This was only the beginning. Taking another deep breath, Henry pulled a black fabric from his pocket and tied it tightly over his eyes. He was about to enter a world where sight would betray him. By eliminating his vision, he would render the tree’s illusions powerless. "With this, I can begin," he murmured, adjusting the blindfold. It felt strange—disorienting, but his enhanced senses quickly compensated. /Howl/ /Howl/ A distant howl echoed through the forest, but Henry paid it no mind. Step by step, he ventured forward, relying on his sharpened perception to navigate the treacherous terrain. Each footstep sent subtle vibrations through the ground, allowing him to gauge the landscape beneath him. He felt the shift between soft soil and firm roots, adjusting his balance accordingly. The scent of damp earth mixed with the fresh fragrance of blooming flowers and the crisp aroma of pine needles, serving as markers to guide his path. The forest whispered around him. /Whistle/ /Rustle/ Leaves rustled overhead, swaying with the wind, offering hints of its direction. Every tiny shift in the air, every sound, was a clue. Henry listened, his heartbeat steady, his breathing controlled. "I'm close." Then, something changed. A new scent drifted toward him—putrid, suffocating. A stench so vile it twisted his stomach. Henry’s lips curled into a small smile. "The same scent I perceived when I first located this spot " he muttered. With slow, deliberate movements, he reached for his blindfold and untied it. The moment the fabric slipped from his eyes, the world shifted. It was as if he had stepped from a dream into reality. Before him stood the tree. Its towering branches stretched toward the heavens, adorned with delicate leaves that shimmered with an ethereal glow. The air around it pulsed with an ancient, unseen energy. The sheer presence of the tree filled him with awe and reverence. "Finally, we meet again," Henry whispered. He reached out, his fingers brushing against the rough bark. The moment he made contact, a surge of power rushed into his body, filling him with warmth. The weakness in his limbs began to fade, replaced by a newfound strength. Then— /THROB/ A sharp pain shot through his chest. "Huh?" Before he could react, agony exploded from his heart, spreading like wildfire. "Ahhh!" He tried to scream, but his voice was smothered by a thick, metallic-tasting liquid—blood. Pain wracked his body, unbearable and unrelenting. Each heartbeat felt like a hammer striking against his ribs, threatening to shatter him from within. His vision blurred, the world spinning in a chaotic swirl of light and darkness. "Akghh!" His throat tightened, his breath hitching. The searing pain intensified, swallowing him whole. Darkness closed in, and he could no longer fight against the overwhelming weight of unconsciousness. ......... As Henry lay unconscious on the ground, a mysterious transformation began to take place. An ethereal white glow enveloped his body, radiating with a mesmerizing brilliance. The surrounding environment seemed to respond to this celestial energy, as if acknowledging the awaken of a hidden power.
