Chapter 12

1012 Words
Skylar's POV His dark eyes locked onto mine, hard and dangerous. I could see the anger simmering beneath that controlled exterior, and maybe something more, something I didn’t want to name but couldn’t ignore. “You think you can just get me horny and run off.’ I swallowed, standing my ground, because I wasn’t about to back down from this Ryder guy . “I don’t owe you a damn thing, how did I even do that?” I said, my voice steady even though my chest felt like it was about to burst. His jaw clenched, muscles twitching with frustration. “You’re reckless. You’re playing with my dick.” He took a step forward, closing the gap between us, and I could feel the heat radiating off him. It was more than the heat of his body; it was the kind of heat that made your blood run hot and your nerves electric. “What the hell,” I said. “You good.” Did all men always speak off when they were horney, I thought. His eyes narrowed, searching mine like he was trying to find the weak spot. “You don’t know what you’re dealing with. You don’t know what you’re risking.” I laughed, bitter and sharp. “Maybe I don’t. But I’m tired of being told what to do. And I'm definitely tired of whatever you're saying.” He stared for a long moment, then suddenly revved the engine of his bike, the deep growl vibrating through the air. Without waiting for me to move, he swung his leg off the seat and landed on the ground with a solid thud. He stalked toward me with purpose, boots hitting the pavement like thunder. I stayed rooted, every inch of me wired tight, waiting for whatever was coming next. “You’re playing a dangerous game, Skylar,” he said, voice low and fierce. “And if you push too hard, you’ll get it.” “Shut the f**k up bro,” I shot back, my voice sharp with defiance. He stopped right in front of me, so close that I could feel the heat of his breath on my face. My heart hammered against my ribs, caught somewhere between fury and something dangerously close to need. Ryder bent down slowly, as if he was about to kiss me. His dark eyes flickered over my face, softening for just a moment, then hardened again. His lips hovered just inches from mine. The breath from his mouth was warm and intoxicating, and I could almost taste the promise in it. And then—he pulled back. “Don’t test me,” he warned, his voice a rough whisper. “You don’t want to know what happens if you push me.” That warning lit a fire inside me. I wasn’t about to let him get away with that. Without hesitation, I grabbed the collar of his jacket and pulled him down, crushing my lips against his. The kiss hit me like a freight train. Ryder’s hands were on me instantly one wrapping around my waist, the other sliding lower until it cupped my ass firmly. The heat of his touch scorched me through the layers of fabric, and I pressed into him, my fingers tangling in his thick, dark hair. His tongue swept over my lips, demanding entrance, and I opened for him without hesitation. The kiss was fierce and hungry, desperate and urgent. Our breaths mingled, ragged and hot. The world around us vanished until there was nothing but the heat and fire roaring between us. I wanted to say something, to break the kiss, but the raw need rolling through me crushed all other thoughts. Ryder’s hands gripped me tighter, pulling me impossibly closer, and my body sang with a hunger I hadn’t known I had, I could feel his c**k getting hard on my body.. When he finally broke the kiss, both of us gasping for air, his dark eyes locked onto mine with something fierce and dangerous. “You want to follow me home?” he asked, voice low and rough. I pulled back, fury flaring again. “Do I look like the kind of girl who follows anyone home?” His grin was cocky and unapologetic. “Right now? Yeah.” My pride screamed at me to say no, to push him away. But the heat lingering in my veins, the fire sparking between us it told me otherwise. I hesitated for a heartbeat, then swung my leg over his bike and wrapped my arms tightly around his waist. The engine rumbled beneath us, deep and powerful, as we tore into the night. The city lights blurred past, but all I could focus on was the heat of Ryder pressing against me, his steady hands gripping the bike and me like he never wanted to let go. Every bump in the road sent jolts through my body, and I couldn’t stop the tremor that ran up my spine. Ryder’s breath was warm on my neck, and I could feel the dangerous promise in his every move. “Skylar,” he murmured, his voice rough with something I couldn’t place need? Desire? Something darker. I swallowed hard and tightened my grip on him. “Don’t call me that.” He smirked, that cocky grin that made my knees weak. “Why not? I like it.” I didn’t answer. Instead, I leaned into him, feeling the wild pull of something I wanted to fight but couldn’t. The bike sped on through the night, carrying us toward whatever came next. Ryder’s voice broke the silence again. “You’re mine,” he said softly, but the words hit me like a slap. I jerked away, breathless and furious. “Don’t be stupid.” He laughed, low and dark. “Stupid enough to want you.” That laugh rolled through me, shaking something loose I hadn’t expected. The city slipped away behind us, the night swallowing us whole, and I knew nothing between us would ever be the same.
