"Where is Edith?", I asked Grace, entering the house.
"She's in her room talking to Gabriel," she replied distractedly, as she buttered a piece of toast. I knew they were going shopping together and now to hear that she had lied to me, made me angry.
"Who the f**k is Gabriel?"
"Her ex. On the way back from the mall, he called her and..."
"What?!", I exploded, jolting Grace who finally realised the gravity of her statement.
"Jake, it's not what you think. Gabriel and Edith are just friends. She's with you now."
"She's in touch with her exes, though."
"Gabriel is more than an ex. He was her first love and is her best friend... after me, of course."
