“It's all for your own good.”
Aaron Rolfe, the handsome billionaire CEO of Rolfe and Co law firm, the biggest law firm in the whole of the country, sighed. He looked up at his elder sister, Freda.
“Freda, I understand, but I need time,” he said coldly.
Freda paced about in his large office, her heeled shoes clicking on the mirrored floor, which made him more angry.
She stopped and folded her arms across her chest, “Time? There's no time on your side, Aaron. You're not getting any younger.”
He buried his head in his hands, feeling a migraine rising.
He was tired of the whole thing. For the past two months, his mother and sister had bugged him about the issue of getting a wife.
He was getting pretty frustrated already, he wouldn't talk about all the blind dates his sister had pinned him on, the ladies who his mother had brought to him.
Aaron rubbed his temples, “For pity's sake, Freda, I'm twenty-eight and not eighty-eight.”
“Soon, you'll clock thirty Aaron, you need a wife, someone to be by your side, so you can take over all the legacy dad left behind before he died”, Freda said.
“I don't need dad's company, I'm okay with mine, I have more than enough to last me for a thousand years”. Aaron told her
“That's the other reason you need a woman by your side, mum, and I won't always be here with you “She said,”. “You're a grown man and need a woman to make you whole.”
Aaron sighed again, “Did mum send you down here to tell me this?”
“Mum wants the best for you” she remarked.
Aaron rose to his feet and Freda watched him stroke at the door. He got to the door and turned to face her.
“Don't you have a husband to go home to and a business to run too? Please, I need some peace of mind. You and mum are driving me crazy, “He told her,” I'd get a wife when I see one and nothing short of that.”
“Well, I hate to break this to you, but mum says she's getting you a wife herself this weekend if you don't show up with a lady” Freda smiled.
Aaron's eyes widened, ”What?”
“Yeah and you have just two days, otherwise you'll be on your way to the altar. You know how mum can be, so don't push her” Freda said.
Aaron reached out and pulled the door open. He stepped aside, holding the door open for her.
“You should take your leave now,” he said dryly.
“But I just got here,” Freda whined.
He said nothing, looking away, and she got the idea. Freda sighed and picked up her expensive bag from his large desk. She walked to him.
“Mum only wants what's best for you. You have a choice to make now, dear brother”, she said.
He said nothing, and she walked out of the office. He slammed the door after her, anger brewing inside of him.
Aaron sighed, just yesterday he had been visited by an ugly lady who claimed she was his date sent by his mother.
He had gone out, leaving her in the house to clear his head, but he ended up having a more complicated day.
Aaron walked back to his chair and sat down heavily. He needed to forget about everything and the only thing that could make him do that was work.
He opened his laptop and settled on the project he was working on.
He picked up some files of some people who had sent reports, requesting his help with one thing or the other.
He took a deep breath and slipped out a file from the stack of files, he rested back on his chair and opened the file.
He glanced at the passport photograph of a lady on a page in the file and read the details that came under her picture.
She needed his help to defend her as her property was about to be taken forcefully. He noticed how young she was and seemed interested in her.
He decided to settle for the ladies' case. At least he'd use it to clear his head and maybe, just maybe it would make him forget about everything.
He picked up his telephone and punched his secretary's line, he took the telephone to his ear.
She picked up at the first ring, ”Hello, Mr Rolfe.”
“I want you to put a call across to the lady in file number twelve, arrange a meeting for the two of us.I'd be meeting up with her by two o'clock, sharp” he told her.
“I'd do that right away,”'ll secretary said.
He hung up, placing the telephone back in its cradle. He leaned back on his chair and took a deep breath, this was what he needed to clear his head.
Aaron drove to the restaurant where his secretary had arranged a meeting with the lady and he arrived two minutes earlier.
He sat in the quiet restaurant, waiting for the lady to show up.Minutes past and she hadn't still showed up, Aaron glanced at his wristwatch, it had been thirty minutes late.
He sighed and sipped the glass of water before him on the table. He wondered why a lady desperate for help like the lady would still come late to something that would be of help to her.
He glanced at his wristwatch again then tapped his leg impatiently on the floor.
What sort of an insult was this? How can he wait for someone who was supposed to be here earlier before him,it now seemed like he was the one in need of her help.
“I'm really sorry, I'm late…the traffic was heavy,” A lady gushed, running to the table he sat on.
Aaron looked up and immediately recognized the lady, his eyes widened as he slowly got up to his feet.
Yes, he couldn't be mistaken, he recognized the lady.
“You!” He spat angrily.
