Today I'm packing to leave for the alpha meeting. It's held on the first full moon of every year. It's where every alpha and their beta go to talk to one another about rogue problems, alliances, and If ever needed declare war against one another. There hasn't been an official war between packs in almost 200 years. The last time it was over the freedom territory that bordered my pack the Winter Moon pack, the Storm Moon pack and the Old Moon pack. The Old Moon pack is the first pack ever formed. The alpha who leads them is alpha of all alphas. He's the king of our world. He is the seal of approval on wars and alliances. He also is the one to monitor rogue attacks and send his army to train packs to denfend themselves. The first law he ever made was that if packs ever threatens to break an alliance formed at the meeting his team/ army will show no hesitation to wipe the existing power of the pack out completely. Mates, children, family, if they so much share an ancestry with that alpha or beta or gamma they can kiss their life goodbye. A tad harsh but at least he keeps everyone in check. Like I was saying before though. War hasn't broken out between packs since the freedom territory. My pack wanted to keep it free. It's believed in my pack the souls of werewolfs who have not yet completed their destiny's reside there. Helping to guide those who are now the next in line to complete the destiny pass wolves have set out to accomplish but met an untimely end before completion. It's a nice story to tell pups since the territory is creepy looking. I'm not saying I wouldn't go in there if I had to but I'm also not volunteering to go in and take a look around. The Old Moon pack agreed we should keep the territory free after all they're our brother pack in a way. We are the second oldest and strongest pack. we've fought hard to keep that name and to prove our worth in fights. Storm Moon is the third strongest and third largest pack. They don't believe in our ancient stories. They are rather new. they are advanced in their war tactics but they lack motivation. They are fueled by greed and power. I've learned the truth to being successful. My father was a powerful alpha, my mother a strong and kind hearted luna. My brother and I were raised to be like them both. To know right from wrong. We were taught to be honest, kind, strong, powerful and most importantly to know that respect is earned not given.
"Alpha, we need to leave" My brother only ever called me alpha in the mind link when something I wouldn't like was happening.
I zipped my suitcase and walked calmly down the stairs. I didn't want to come barreling down the stairs as that would give away my overly anxious side. No alpha wants to be seen like that by their pack. As I made my way down the stairs I saw the beauty team that was used for my alpha ceremony that my mother had hired. Speak of the lovely lady now
"Oh honey you can't be serious" she said cover her mouth.
"Mother" I breathed out as I shook my head into my palm.
"No alpha of mine will be attending this meeting looking like that" her finger already waging at me.
"Mom we don't have time for all this" I said lifting my head out of my hand, now shifting my weight to one side of my body.
"You have an hour before you need to leave" she now placed her hands on her hips, her mouth parting a bit with her eyebrow raised.
She was daring me to challenge her. As an alpha I would've punished her. As her daughter I just sigh.
"I need to leave now mother, it's 3:30. I have a private meeting with the king at 5:00" i said in a low tone.
"The king" she questioned. she took a moment to pause and I could feel her worry.
"It's my first time attending the meeting in person. He has yet to pay a visit to us and wants to get to know me is all." I said taking her into a hug.
She gripped my back tight. As she waved my brother and I off with a few of our pack members I could still sense an overwhelming sense of fear from my mother.
I watched from the side mirror of the car as she silently prayed and looked to the sky.
Does she know my secret? She couldn't. Could she?
