Chapter 23
A week passed in short order. Mitch held down the lunch and dinner shift at the cafeteria and spent his free hours with Calix. That, he could easily say, was the best part of his day. He’d wake up in Calix’s arms after a night of passion. They’d share breakfast, then head off to their prospective duties only to return hours later to one another’s arms.
Above all, he could, for once, claim he was happy. Totally and abundantly happy. Just one small thing kept his life from perfection. A few tiny words, but they had the impact of a locomotive.
What if he never can love again? Then what?
You won’t know until you tell him, his inner cat answered as he stretched. Besides, his saber is really cool. Arrogant, but I can deal.
Mitch snorted. You’re just addicted to the s*x.
