The First Star (Book Two: The Star Series)

The Explanation

The music begins and my siblings all step off the stage. I look around and see mom, dad, Aunt Erin, Uncle Brad, Beth, Dani, and Jason in the far corner discussing something. And I think I know what that something is. "Come on Ariel. I know they know what's going on." I say glancing at the adults in the corner and Ariel nods. We start to walk over to find out if I'm right and what they know about the prophecy. There has to be more. It doesn't make sense to me.

We get closer and we can hear their hushed voices. "Are you sure? I mean you could be wrong." I hear Beth say. "I don't know I think they might be on to something. I mean there are four of them. Their last name is STARR Jackson. And they all have powers. That all coincides with the prophecy." Uncle Brad says. "But if they are the stars then what does it mean when it talks about one taking power that the others will no longer possess?" Dad says thinking.

That is when I interrupt. "I might know the answer to that. But it's just a theory. Maybe we should talk somewhere more quiet." I say and they all nod. Dad leads us out of the ballroom and towards his office. Once we are all in Jason shuts the door. "So, what is it that you might know?" Dad says. I look at Ariel and she urges me on so I begin.

"Well, when Ariel put the charm on my neck something happened. I'm not sure how or why but it feels like I may have lost my powers." I start but before I can continue mom starts being mom. "Oh my goddess. What do you mean lost your powers? They just cant disappear. How is that possible?" Dad places his hands on her shoulders and she visibly starts to calm down.

"I don't know how to explain it but I could feel them being drained from me. But they were replaced by more werewolf powers. I don't know how else to explain it besides I feel like my powers are gone and I'm just wolf. And I feel powerful." I say. I look around and nobody is saying anything. They are all just looking at me like they are trying to see something.

"That's why the lights were circling and transferring between them. I think it was somehow transferring energy or power. Something like that. But how would we know?" Aunt Erin says. And mom sits down as she looks a little worried. "If Johnny has all the wolf powers then what happened to the triplets? Did the same thing happen to them. Oh my goddess, what if they never get their wolves now?" She asks.

"If they don't have wolves it doesn't matter. They are still our kids." Dad says comforting mom. I never thought of that. Did I steal my brother and sisters wolves? Could I have done that to them? "What if they are now only one or the other?" Beth says. "What do you mean?" Dad asks. "Well, what if Johnny is now all wolf, and the triplets are now all vampire, fae, and witch. Like they all took the powers of just one supernatural. Am I making sense." She asks and looks confused.

"That could be a possibility. But which one is what supernatural? How do we find out for sure?" Dani asks. I look down at the necklace around my neck. "The charms you gave us mom. You guys announced it already. What if we arent just the charm wearers. What if the charm was made for us to bring our real selves out. Not just enhance a power like it did you? I mean, you had them all so maybe all your powers stayed. We all have one. So maybe it made us who we are suppose to be?" Ariel smiles at me. "You are so smart. That has to be it." She says and I smile down. The sparks from the mate bond are driving me crazy. It's the most amazing feeling I've ever felt and I never want her to stop touching me.

"Ok so who is what?" Jason asks. That's when mom speaks up. "Ok so if that theory is correct then that means Johnny's is a wolf, Arc is a vampire, Bella is a fae, and Siri is a witch. So if this is correct then we are going to have to change some things." She says. "Like what?" Dad asks. "Well, we cant be having the triplets train anymore with the wolves. They will get injured. And we need to get them trained with their own kind." She says thinking.

"Their kind? They are one of us." Dad says getting angry. "I didn't mean that. I just meant that they need to train with a vampire, fae, and witch. Somebody that will know all the powers that a full blood possess. I only know a few things from each one. I don't know everything." She says and dad seems to understand what she meant. "Ok so how do we go about it. Do we bring somebody in?" Uncle Brad asks. "As much as I don't want to say this I think it's what needs done." Mom starts and we are all looking at her.

"Once the triplets come of age I think we need to send them to their territory. So they can be around others and learn from them." She says. "I don't like that idea. You cant just send them away because they arent wolves any more. You don't even know if that's what happened for sure." I say getting upset. We may fight a lot but I love my siblings and would never want them shipped away. "That is not what I mean." Mom says.

"Babe listen, all your mom is saying is that they are going to have a lot of thing to learn that they cant learn here. It's not like they are getting kicked out of the pack." Ariel says rubbing her hand up and down my arm and I'm instantly calm. "Of coarse not. We would never do that. But your mother is right. We find out if they are now full bloods and I agree with your mother. It will be best if they get their training elsewhere." Dad agrees. "Plus it's not like they will be alone. Arc can go stay with Kayden. Bella can go stay with Kara. And Siri can go stay with your Gammy." Aunt Erin says.

"That is actually a good idea." Mom says. "So its settled. Starting tomorrow I will personally work with the triplets. I will make sure that what we think happened really did. Donovan please call and make arrangement with the others. I know its years away but I want them all prepared." Mom says and everybody nods. "Ok everybody I think we have a party to get back to." Beth says happily.

We head back to the party and meet up with Jenny. Axel showed up about thirty minutes later. He said somebody came and took over his post so he could enjoy the party. We danced and had a blast. Siri and Bella even had a cute choreographed dance they put on for everybody. And I would be lying if I said I didn't threaten a few fourteen and fifteen year old boys with their lives for what they were saying.

The party was winding down when I leaned into Ariel. "You know what?" I say. "What?" She asks looking up at me smiling. "Let's get out of here. I have something I want to tell you." I say and her smile turns into a cute half smile as she looks at me suspiciously. I grab her hand and lean her upstairs to my room.

We sit on the bed and I hold her hands and look into her eyes. "So, what did you wanna talk about?" She asks. "Ok well, you know that I don't keep any secrets from you." I start and she jerks her hands away from me and jumps up angrily. "I knew it. What did she do now. Corner you when you went to get our drinks? Did she touch you? I'm gonna kill that b***h Shasta." She says and heads for the door. I jump up and grab her by the arm to stop her.

"Baby, no. This has nothing to do with Shasta. I didn't even notice she was here. Come sit back down." I say and she reluctantly follows me back to sit on the bed. "What I'm trying to say is I think I found a new power. Well not really power. I guess you would say a new wolf trait has emerged early." This intrigues her as she c***s her head. I take a deep breath. I never keep anything from Ariel so she should know. "When you touch me it does something to me." I begin and she gives me that crooked smile again and I groan.

"I mean I can feel the mate bond." I say and her smile widens. "So when I do this it excites you." She says and traces a finger from my hand to my elbow and back down. I groan again and she stops. "What does it feel like?" She asks. "Well, it feels like a million butterflies fluttering around everywhere you touch. It's a pleasure that I've never felt before. It's a feeling I never want to not feel again." I say and pull her into me. She giggles and throws her head back.

"So all I have to do is touch you and your mine?" She says smirking. "Goddess, now your going to torture me arent you?" I say and she nods and starts kissing up and down my neck. "I cant help the lustful groans that escape my lips. And I slowly push her away. "Ok, unfortunately you must stop. And I must take a cold shower." I say and she laughs again as she gets up. "I'll see you tomorrow." She says as she walks out.

"That woman. What I would give to just have her body." Kane says and I can see the way hes picturing Ariel. "Ok enough. I already need to shower." I respond. I shower quickly and get to bed early. Whatever it was that happened with our powers transferring it sure did tire me out.

The next six months went by quickly. We were right about our powers. And surprisingly the triplets didn't seem to have any issues with it. And from what mom says they have already mastered everything she knows. So pretty much they just practice the same stuff or take the time they would spend training just reading or doing homework.

And me and Ariel have been super busy. We've been working double on our school work. Technically we are only juniors but we are doing double to be able to finish high school by the time I turn sixteen. That way we don't have to try and finish school while taking over for mom and dad. I'm sitting in the library finishing my trig homework when somebody starts to rub my shoulders. And it feels amazing. It's so relaxing that I just close my eyes. "If you like that you should let me show you some other massages that I know." Shasta whispers into my ear and bites the bottom of my ear in between her lips. My eyes shoot open and I jump up.

"Shasta. What are you doing?" I say worried and angry at the same time. She walks towards me and I back up until I hit one of the book shelves. "I am letting you feel something that snooty Ariel probably never let's you feel." She says as she grabs my hand and places it on her ass as she wraps a leg around my waist. She pulls my head down to hers and smashes her lips on mine. And I don't know why but my lips part. "Oh my goddess, what do I do?" I ask Kane but he isn't responding. Usually when a girl touches me that's not Ariel he is yelling at me for letting somebody that isn't my mate touch me. But now he is eerily silent.

I come about my wits and remove my hand and pull my head up so her lips are no longer on mine. "Shasta, stop. I cant do this. I love Ariel. She is my mate and you and everybody else know it." I say and she takes a step back and has a cocky look on her face. "So. What is miss priss gonna do about it?" She says. Then suddenly she is knocked in the side of the head with a book. "That's what I'm gonna do w***e. Don't touch my man." She screams as Shasta falls to the ground. "You stupid bitch." Shasta growls and launches herself at Ariel.

They go tumbling into the shelf knocking the whole thing backwards. They are wrestling each other and Ariel gets on top of Shasta and starts punching. Over and over straight in the face. I walk up behind Ariel and put my arms around her waist and pull her off of Shasta. "Baby, calm down. It's ok. You got her. You don't have to worry about her anymore." I say and she is visible shaking she is so mad. She turns around and smacks me right across the face and walks off while I'm standing there shocked at what just happened.

It took about a week before Ariel would talk to me. She was so mad. But what was I suppose to do it just happened and I stopped it as soon as I could. But she wasn't hearing it. She didn't say a word to me until the day we found out that Shasta got sent to her aunt's house in a pack over four hours away. I'm assuming mom and Dani had something to do with that but I'm too embarrassed to ask. It took awhile after that for me to get her to trust me again but I finally won her over. You cant deny the mate bond. And she knows I would never hurt her on purpose.

It also helped that she is a little older than me. So when she turned sixteen she felt the bond too. And it was really strong. We could barely keep our hands off of each other but we never went all the way. We promised each other that we would wait. And tomorrow is the day. Tomorrow is my sixteenth birthday and it is going to be one hell of a night. Not only do I get crowned as alpha and King but I get to mate with Ariel. And when we mate we will be tied to each other for the rest of our lives. And I cant wait.
