Charlotte’s POV In the dream, Kieran was different. I saw the version of him that I had only ever caught in bits and pieces. A small smile here. The wind catching his hair there. A momentary pause on a breath, like for a brief second, he was at a loss for words. In my dream, he was gentle and kind to me. He stood next to me in the sunlit field while Nora ran ahead, and he gently brushed the hair out of my face, his gaze fixed only on me. “Charlotte…” “Kieran.” His name was a prayer on my lips. But the name was met with silence. I opened my eyes to find that it was just a dream. I was laying in my bed, on my back, while the doctor was hovering over me. The pain had subsided, but my body was still tired and sore, like someone had deflated the life out of me. “Did you say something?”
