“Dom,” said Kiko sharply, glaring at him. They didn’t know Lily knew anything, even if she did seem to know what they were talking about.
“She has to know. Don’t you, Lily?”
“If she hasn’t told Gordon, don’t you think she doesn’t know?” replied Kiko before realizing Lily was giving them a terrible look.
“I’m sitting right here,” she said. “And no, I didn’t tell the police chief. It’s not relevant.”
“So you do know,” said Dom, sitting back smugly. Lily sat back as well, grim semi-smile on her face.
“I’ll tell you what I told the police chief: I was nine at the time, and there was a lot going on. Not just the affair and the murder, but also for a little girl. Kids being mean in school. Having to skip days because of things going on. Scared something was going to happen to my mother.”
