Gordon left at a speedier pace than normal and Dom figured it was to prevent him and Kiko from getting too much information from the police chief. It was pointless. He and Kiko were only going to keep digging into Sarah’s death anyway. Dom figured they’d get to the bottom of it first, too.
“He’s only making it less safe for us,” he said after Gordon left. Katie, finished with her book, joined them at the counter. “We’ll just know less when we keep meddling.”
“You don’t have to, you know,” she said.
“Hard not to,” said Kiko. Dom wondered if this was the second or third time he was wiping down the counter. “We saw her body. We can’t pass up a puzzle.”
“After the number of times you’ve been seriously in danger, you should know better,” said Katie. Dom grinned and noticed Kiko
