EVIE’S POV
Storming out of the office was not the best choice but I couldn’t stand to sit through another second of Grimwood taking Florence’s side, this may bite me in the ass later but I couldn’t care less with my anger clouding my judgement.
Walking down the hallways with no destination in mind, only the purpose to walk this anger off. I walked fast and heavy, the only feeling I felt was the nerves in my feet jolting when making contact with the floor with every step.
I couldn’t believe the nerve of some people in this school, watching a fight play out and acting like the one defending their self was in the wrong. Yes I had the upper hand, but only because I grew custom to Florence’s games.
What about what Florence and her pet pigs been doing to me? This has been going on for a few years since our first year going to this school. The teaches know they just want to swept it under the rug to protect their precious schools reputation, as for my so called peers their just mad that me a scholar has better grades that even money can’t compete.
During my blind rage I bumped into Stephen Rogers who was coming around a corner, during the collision he dropped his book bag spilling its contestants onto the floor. Feeling guilty, I lowered to my knees at the same time he did to help pick his stuff off the floor.
“Hey Stephen, how was your break?” I questioned calmer than what I was seconds ago. Picking up some pens that fell, I handed them to Stephen.
“Hey Eve, break was good. Caught up on some reading I was meaning to do.” Stephen replied with ease. “What about you? What did you get up to?”. Stephen asked politely.
Picking up a book with what looks to be about vampires, I held the book up facing Stephen with a questioning look.
“For the vampires, mum said I was being paranoid but it helps to know more about the newcomers” Stephen informed with a grimace look.
“Vampires?” I asked shocked, gesturing for Stephen to elaborate more on the topic while handing his book to him.
“Yeah, that’s who we’re merging schools with” Stephen shared, finished with picking up what was left we both shifted to a standing position.
“Is that safe? I mean they drink blood for gods sake.” I exclaimed in disbelief of the situation.
“I know, I’ve been telling mum of the dangers they bring and how this can negatively affect our lives” Stephen stressed running a hand through his dark brown hair.
“How does your mum feel about this? Is she okay with teaching vampires?” I questioned with worry, shifting my weight from one foot to the other and crossing my arms against my chest.
“Mum said she will be fine, says she’s been learning how to teach vampires through memoirs.” Stephen reassured, the reassurance felt more for him than it was for me. “Hey what happened in the courtyard? Between you and Florence.” Stephen inquired with raised eyebrows.
Letting a tired sigh. I rolled my eyes remembering why I was so angry in the first place. “The usual, she just keeps agitating me like it’s some sick joke” I expressed, the stress obvious in my tone. “That’s not even the worst part, because I quote “provoked Florence” unquote I have to serve two weeks worth of detention.”
“You would think that she would grow up and find a much more mature past time” Stephen said with disbelief. “I can’t believe you have detention, school hasn’t even started yet” Stephen teased with a boyish grin.
Suddenly feeling flushed, I looked down at my toes unable to look at his gorgeous smile. Taking note of the state of my clothes, I found my way out of this conversation.
Looking up into Stephen’s eyes with a gummy dopey smile, I noticed him still looking down at me. “I gotta go see where my dorm room is, also see where my bags got too.” I managed to get out of my mouth.
“Of course, will I be seeing you at dinner? Stephen asked in a nonchalant manner.
Will he see me at dinner? Do I really want to sit in a room full of people I don’t like. Looking down again in thought, I decided that I will go for ten minutes tops. Anything to have a little time with Stephen.
Looking up again at him, I sent another grin.“Sure, see you then” I assured him of my attendance.
“Okay, see you then too” Stephen said, I departed with a grin spread across my mouth.
Making my down the hallway again this time with a spring in my step, I made my way to the stairs to leave the school building and go over to the girls dorms.
Going through the school I have come across a few teaches that I recognise, sending little hellos and offering nods of acknowledgement and getting some in return.
Exiting the school building and crossing the courtyard, the closer I get to the girl dorms building the clearer I can see girls loitering around the front of the building.
Making my way up the steps I paid no mind to the obvious looks being sent my way, hopefully I don’t have roommates that are bias.
Going up to the reception desk in the entryway, once at the desk the lady looked up sensing my presence. The lady in question Mrs Harrison always had a stern look on her face.
“Evening Mrs Harrison, I’m here for my dorm number” I spoke in a polite tone to not agitate the women.
“Yes miss Thorne, I was wondering when you would show up” Mrs Harrison looked down at the sign in book, scanning the book she let out a hum of recognition when seeing my name. “Room D25” Mrs Harrison announced.
“Thank you, do you know what happed to my bags?” I asked out of hope.
“Yes, Headmaster had a teacher bring your things already” Mrs Harrison informed in disinterest going back to her book.
“Okay thanks again!” I called over my shoulder making my way to my new room.
