Chapter Fifteen The drift of the past I wasn’t with Ripley anymore. I was in the hospital, and I was having a flashback from the past. The lights were flashing and there was a woman sitting on the bed. Her eyes were closed, and she looked really, really tired. There was nothing inside the room apart from a metal-framed bed. The paint was stripped from the walls. She looked like she must have just given birth, because there was blood everywhere. Then I heard the crying of a baby. A warden dressed in a nurse uniform walked in, carrying a newborn wrapped in a white towel. The baby was screaming; it had black hair and it was all wrinkly. I didn’t know what to think.
