Chapter 27 Wren Knox was the first to move. Without taking his eyes off me, he reached up, unclipped his helmet, and pulled it off in one smooth motion. Raven-black hair, damp from sweat, fell messily over his forehead. He lazily ruffled it with one hand before tossing the helmet onto the ice beside him. It slid across the rink with a hollow scrape before coming to a stop against the boards. His hockey stick remained loosely gripped in one hand. His eyes never left me. Those dark, almost unnaturally black eyes pinned me where I stood as I slowly descended the concrete stairs leading toward the rink. One step. Then another. And another.
