Chapter 28 WREN By the time Knox and I stepped out of the underground rink, the school had fallen eerily quiet. The last bell had rung hours ago, and most of the students had already gone home. The hallways, usually overflowing with chatter, echoed only with the distant hum of the ventilation system. Sunset had painted the windows orange by the time we'd left the rink, and now the light outside had dimmed into the soft blue of early evening. "I'll be back in a minute," I told Knox as we stopped outside the girls' gym locker room. "Wait here."
