How many times do I need to spell it out for you.” I said. “I’m not asking what you need.” He said and I turned to glare at him. “Funny how that keeps coming up.” I said. “It’s the truth.” He said without smiling. I looked at him and then back at the clearing that they were making bigger. “How far?” I asked. “Short walk. Close enough that we see anything coming.” He said. “And far enough that you’re not in my house.” I said. “Exactly.” He said.
