“Give me a reason.” I replied. He didn’t answer. Instead he rolled the window up and the cruiser pulled away. I stood there for a second and I watched the road ahead. And then I started walking again. I kept thinking about that text message I got from that anonymous person telling me that I’m being watched. Walking along the highway with forestry on either side of me didn’t make me feel any safer. People could be hiding anywhere. But I tried not to think about that and I kept on walking towards home. I walked down the long dirt road to the house and I saw the bikes all lined up in the yard. Voices carried from everywhere and music played somewhere in the background. As soon as everything came into view I saw people moving around like nothing had changed. But then I saw him. D
