The noise around us faded enough to be dangerous.
Then someone laughed loudly near the patio. Not a normal laugh. A sharp and mean one.
I pulled back first and Drake’s jaw tightened.
Vixen stood with two others and they were watching us with smug little smiles like they had caught something worth spreading.
“Cute. Didn’t know construction came with fliting breaks.” She called so I turned slowly.
“You bored again?” I asked and she smiled wider.
“Just watching the show.” She said.
“Then buy a ticket and shut up.” I said.
A few guys laughed and her smile slipped.
