This week has been such a game changer for my life. As of Tuesday I no longer am running my security company I helped build from the ground up. My people got me a great deal and still kept me enough shares to live off of. While I am still not a millionaire, the sale and my payout have me living a pretty cushiony life until I determine my next move. Of course the thought of just living a low cost life, maybe off grid, has become rather appealing. Mainly my next move will determine how we live our future. The only thing I knew for sure was the stress of running the company was getting to me and the deal I got came at just the right price and time. There is no longer just me to consider going forward now I also need to include Jennifer. Three days after my work life drastically changed, we landed in Florida for a weekend trip. Wednesday night I planned this spur of the moment trip. Thursday I planned my proposal and purchased the perfect ring. It is a ring just like my mom always wanted but never got. White gold, single solitaire princess cut ring is now in my pocket as we check in at the hotel. Jennifer loves when I plan these spontaneous trips, so I have a feeling she will love my spontaneous proposal and wedding on the beach. I have it all set to propose tomorrow at sunset. Then the officiant, which I called to confirm and paid for right after purchasing the ring, will join us on the beach with the witnesses to perform the ceremony. The only tricky part is getting Jennifer to wear a white summer dress tomorrow on the beach. I know she will not want to be in wedding pictures with something tacky or a bathing suit. As we walk into the suite I check for bed bugs just to be sure. Once on a trip they had bed bugs. I woke up all bitten and as manly as possible grossed out. Bugs do not generally get to me but bed bugs and blood just have a disturbing factor I can't bring myself to get over. No bugs to be found so I finish taking the bags off the cart. "Hey babe, the lady at the desk didn't mention room service. Do you see the book for it around the nightstands?" Jennifer asks, genuinely confused. "No Jen I think with this kind of resort you have to go down to the restaurants or have delivery from a local place. Maybe we can go out to a beach shop and get you a new dress then hit up a local place for dinner" I reply hoping the dress comment won't throw up any red flags to my plans. "I love when you take me clothes shopping! Will you watch me try them on?" "Of course I will, this is a nice relaxing trip" "Well you have been really stressed with work lately. Maybe you should look into hiring a second assistant when we get back Monday" Jen says not knowing that I am not returning to my business. I do feel guilty about not including her but this is all part of my surprise this weekend. Now that I am not at work 50 plus hours a week, we will spend so much more time together. "I have been stressed. Do you want to get your suit on and we can walk the beach a bit before shopping and dinner?" "Yes I love that idea. Maybe while we are out we will get some ideas to plan for tomorrow!" Jen loves to plan ahead so she knows what to wear. I remember the first trip we did when I just told her to pack for 4 days and make it comfortable clothes. Arriving to pick her up at her apartment she was super stressed. Her room looked like a tornado hit with clothing and shoes thrown about. After that I learned to mention more specifics like temperatures and types of activities for our destination. Growing up we never had money to just decide to take a trip and go the same week or month. Mom saved for 2 years to take me to Disney. I wish she had lived to see me be a success because I think of her each time I travel.
