Part 2: A Dream Apart

204 Words
Years passed. Liam and Cara pursued separate careers, never crossing paths. Their nightly dreams stopped, replaced by silence. One night, however, they found themselves in the dreamscape once more. Cara ran after a shadowy figure, unaware that Liam was chasing her from behind. No matter how fast he ran, the distance between them only grew. When Cara reached the cliff's edge, she fell. Liam dove into a river to save her, only to wake up gasping for air. They ignored the dream. Both focused on their careers, yet fate wasn’t done with them. Cara and Liam were sent to collaborate on a project by their respective bosses. The meeting was set at a coffee shop. When they saw each other, shock turned to anger. Memories of their unresolved tension resurfaced, sparking a heated argument. Cara nearly stormed out, but Liam stopped her, blurting, “I had dreams of someone like you as a teen.” Cara froze. She, too, recalled her teenage dreams and their promise to marry. Overwhelmed, she fled the coffee shop. Their bosses, frustrated by their lack of professionalism, gave them an ultimatum: finish the project or face termination. Cara hesitated but couldn’t ignore the uncanny connection she shared with Liam.
