The weekend for him was spent in restless agony. Not in any overwhelming physical pain but one where you press the spot mindlessly even though it hurts. He had to formulate a plan but at the same time it made him feel dirty to dive into the virginal mountain pool that was Larry and Helen’s unspoken bond. He was an outsider. There was no innocent intrusion point. If he befriended Larry Jr., joined in on whatever he was doing to gain Helen’s favor, it would be a massive failure.
