Andalia
I stared at her dumbfounded and shocked for three reasons.
One, she made a deal with the enemy just for me to forget about my mate.
Two, I was tortured by that same man, and she didn't bother to confront him, how cowardly of her.
And three, she is one of the reasons I am like this.
How could she even think about handing me over to someone who had hate, the size of a planet for our pack. Or maybe he charmed her?
I thought, staring at my mother, who remained silent with her head low. The woman I know to be my mother would never fall for the charms of the opposite gender, especially after dad died.
I heaved a sigh, coming to an understanding of why she did what she did, it was still to make me happy and she also made an attempt to save me, so I couldn't stay mad at her. I threw my arms around her, embracing her in a warm hug.
“Don't feel bad anymore, mom. I am fine, and I won't be getting into any accidents soon, so stop the overprotecting, I am a big girl now. I can handle myself," I said to her while hugging her, but she withdrew and crossed her arms, pouting like an actual kid.
I was close to exploding in laughter, but I remained silent, pressing my lips together as I waited for what she wanted to say.
“You said the same thing to me over the phone before you got into an accident. You are not a big girl. You remain a kid to me till you give me grandchildren."
"’Grandchildren, she wishes. I would never let myself fall for a man again, not after what that bastard did to me, be it a human or an immortal, never. I would rather drag my bum over short charcoal than do that.’
‘The determination in your voice cracks me up, The moment you would fall in love, I will nag at you and tease you for the rest of our life,’ Luna said with venom laced in her voice.
Sometimes, it made me wonder how I, a gentle and simple girl, would be paired with a sarcastic, possibly gothic wolf,, it was ridiculous. But the moon goddess had her reasons, and I would not be the one to question her.
“Can we go in now?" I whined the moment my stomach rumbled loudly, I was not as embarrassed because of how loud it was, since it was just her in front of me. “I am hungry," I added, rubbing my flat belly. She threw her arms around my shoulder and led me into the apartment.
An exquisitely looking living room, painted white, with sky blue sofas and silver well polished furniture. I dropped my bags on the couch and headed to the kitchen where there was a steaming hot plate of rice, no, Sticky rice and sweet and spicy chicken sauce with the chicken in it, soaking up the flavors.
Beside the two plates of food, then a wide plate of custard pudding, I held my hair in a bun, ready to dig in when I saw a coupon card on the table for ice cream and cake.
Another thing I so much loved and cherished.

I finished my food faster than ever because I would not want my cakes and ice cream to go to waste. I gave an excuse of going to get more food since we were almost out of them. I got extra money too and got changed.
I wore a white oversized shirt, denim jean skirt that reached my ankles, with a split at the back. I let my hair fall, knowing if I put it up in a bun, mom would kill me. And white sandals to ease my movements.
I walked to where I would get a cab to the city close to the pack we stayed in, and it turned out humans lived there. That meant I was safe, and at the same time, I would get to observe them and eat good human foods again.
Like pizza and pasta, not just rice and meat and noodles we wolves got to learn how to make during the slavery times.
When I arrived at the mall, I was hit with different aromas of different delicacies, rice, noodles, different types of chicken based treats, and best of all, cotton candy Ignore my age, but I could be a kid sometimes, especially when I have a small body for my age and I looked nothing more than nineteen, so that was a bonus.
I walked into the mall, following the aroma of the cotton candy to where I saw the shopkeeper holding up the last one for the last and fastest person. My eyes fell on a man with his little kid, both also going for the candy. It was like those Texas showdowns I saw in books.
I changed my stance while he picked up his little girl, and then we both picked to our heels. Immature, but I don't care one bit, and I doubt if he did.
I ran past different people and stalls, with the sole aim of getting that last cotton candy. I then realized the cotton candy salesman was moving, and he was heading towards a path only I could get a shortcut to.
The masked man and his daughter split up, also doing what I wanted to do. Unfortunately, when I had gotten to the cotton candy, a few feet away from the man and his kid. The only thing stopping me was my mental issues kicking in and then the aroma of ice cream.
As usual, I lost focus and followed the smell, leaving the last cotton candy for the man and his kid.
I felt foolish the whole day of being there. I bought an ice cream in a bowl for when I was in a better mood to eat it and waited outside the mall for my cab.
I was so distracted that I had not noticed a little girl sitting beside me, I could already figure out she was lost from her mood, and I didn't want to make her feel lonely.
I turned around, only to be met with adorable hazel eyes that reminded me of mine, and then I knew it was her. “Did you like the cotton candy?"
She shook her head quietly and moved closer to me, “Daddy smashed it when he could not find you and gave it back because you won fair and square," she answered with her sweet voice drawing me closer like a spell.
“Your father must be a nice man," I chipped in, hoping to make her feel better, but she smiled.
“I ran away from my body guards, and now I am lost. Can you stay with me for a while?"
“Sure I would love to…" I paused, staring at her to guess her name, but she giggled and stretched out her tiny hands.
“Quincy Devon.”
"Andalia Finsely.”
