The moment I stepped into the clearing, all eyes turned to me. The rogues froze for a split second, their confusion evident. They hadn’t expected me to be here, and for once, I reveled in their hesitation.
Kael’s furious glare burned into me, but I ignored him. This wasn’t his fight alone, and I wasn’t going to stand idly by while he faced Ethan and his pack of rogues.
“Well, isn’t this a surprise,” Ethan drawled, his lips curving into a wicked smile. “The girl of the hour, throwing herself into the fire.”
I stepped closer, my amber eyes glowing in the dim light. “You talk a lot for someone hiding behind shadows, Ethan. Why don’t you come face me yourself?”
