Serena’s POV The hairs on the back of my neck stood on end as I pulled away from Kael. The warmth of his embrace was quickly replaced by a cold shiver racing down my spine. “Did you see that?” I whispered, my gaze fixed on the dark tree line beyond the sacred clearing. Kael turned, his sharp eyes scanning the shadows. “What did you see?” I swallowed hard, unsure of what I’d glimpsed. “Movement. Someone’s out there.” Without hesitation, Kael moved in front of me, his posture shifting into full alpha mode. “Stay here,” he commanded. “No,” I said firmly, stepping up beside him. “If it’s a threat, I’m not letting you face it alone.” Kael shot me a look, but there wasn’t time to argue.
