It had been a week. Seven days. No calls. No messages. Nothing. At first, Ryan told himself it was fine. “She wanted space,” he muttered one evening, rinsing a plate under running water. The apartment was quiet. Too quiet. But the silence didn’t feel right. It felt… wrong. His phone buzzed on the counter. Marcus. Ryan dried his hands quickly and picked it up. “You heard anything from Nia?” Marcus asked immediately. No greeting. No hesitation.
