Nathan’s POV
I tried to maintain a calm expression, because I could feel Nicole’s worried eyes on me. This was for me to worry about, I did not want to add anymore on her plate.
“Nicole, could you give us a moment?” I asked, hoping in hope that she would not be stubborn and, for the first time in her life, do as she was told.
“No,” she shook her head, “I am staying.”
I would not say I was surprised by her resistance.
“Whatever Lucas has to say I want to hear it,” she took my hand, “we are in this together.”
There was certainly no point arguing with her. And I have to admit, having her by my side filled me with strength, like whatever the problem was, we could get through it together. I motioned for Luca to go ahead and say whatever it was he had to say.
