As I held Nicole in my arms that night, I felt the tension easing out of her as she finally drifted off to sleep. Every few moments, I brushed a soft kiss against her forehead, unable to help myself. She had been through so much recently, navigating responsibilities she had never asked for, dealing with the stress of the upcoming coronation, and the ever-present threats looming over us. Yet, despite it all, she handled herself with resilience and grace. I wished I could take some of that burden from her, make her path a little smoother, but right now my focus had to remain on securing our future.
