Nicole’s POV The rain started to fall as I stood on the curb, the drops hitting the pavement in heavy splashes. I raised my hand for a cab, but my mind was somewhere else—trapped in the tangled mess of my thoughts. The slick yellow cab finally pulled up, and I slid into the backseat, shutting the door with a trembling hand. “Where to?” the driver asked, his voice gruff but indifferent.
