A few days after our passionate night, I received a call from my uncle Robert.
He apologized to me, imploring me to put in a good word for him with Damien.
I asked why, and he hesitated, telling me that some of his assets had problems.
I understood that this was the warning Damien had mentioned he would give to those people.

After my family went bankrupt, Robert forgot we were family, but when Damien warned him, he remembered.
I told him I couldn't stop Damien. It was his own decision. "I'm just one of Damien's mistresses. I can't persuade him. It was you who made him feel belittled. Damien's actions move me."
