The Wedding
The days leading up to the wedding were a blur of activity for Jessica. James' team of lawyers and event planners descended upon her, handling every detail of the wedding from the flowers to the catering.
Jessica felt like a pawn in a much larger game, with no control over her own destiny. She was forced to try on elaborate wedding dresses, pose for photos, and endure endless interviews with the press.
Through it all, James was absent, busy with his own affairs and leaving Jessica to navigate the chaos alone.
But on the day of the wedding, James was by her side, resplendent in a tailored tuxedo and flashing a charming smile for the cameras.
As they exchanged their vows in a lavish ceremony, Jessica felt a sense of detachment, as if she was watching the scene unfold from outside her body.
When James slipped the ring onto her finger and kissed her, Jessica felt a jolt of electricity, but it was quickly replaced by a sense of unease.
As they turned to face their guests, Jessica caught sight of her parents, beaming with pride and happiness. She knew that she had done this for them, to secure their financial future and give them the life they deserved.
But as she looked up at James, she couldn't shake the feeling that she had just made a deal with the devil himself.
The reception was a whirlwind of music, dancing, and champagne toasts. Jessica smiled and laughed and played the part of the happy bride, but inside, she was seething with resentment and anger.
As the night wore on and the guests began to depart, James took Jessica's hand and led her to the waiting limousine.
"Time to start our new life together," he said, his eyes glinting with amusement.
Jessica felt a shiver run down her spine as she realized that she was now trapped in a marriage with a man she barely knew.
As the limousine pulled away from the curb and sped into the night, Jessica felt a sense of desperation wash over her. She was married to James Parker now, and she had no idea what the future held.
