Chapter 7
Phoebe awoke with a start. She grabbed at her throat and coughed. When she opened her eyes, Lapis knelt next to her with his hand out.
“We have arrived.”
She accepted his hand and blinked rapidly. Everything around her had changed. Nothing looked familiar. The sky had a dark pink hue, and the sun seemed hotter and more orange in color. Made entirely of crystal, the ground bore no plants, leaves, or debris of any kind. Instead she rested on a flat crystal slab.
“Where are we?” She sat up and an invisible bubble of air surrounded her. When she focused her attention on Lapis, she noticed fine particles in the air.
