Chapter 11 The sun blazed high overhead as I traipsed across the Mindil Beach car park. I made my way through row upon row of parked cars to the place I’d entered the markets last time I’d been here. There was a fence blocking the way. I looked up and down the fence line, searching for a way in. To the right, was a banner marking the official entrance. I headed that way. A couple of volunteers wearing Lions Club t-shirts manned the gate, holding buckets labelled Gold Coin Donation. I dropped a two-dollar coin in one of the buckets and walked beneath the Beer Can Regatta banner. I pulled my phone out of my back pocket and called George.
