CHAPTER X

Bei Wei scrambled to her feet while keeping her icy stare glued on the pond.

The crown prince who was luxuriously laying  on the ground, nonchalantly stood up like nothing happened.

Ling Hua was amazed at how suited the two masters were before her.

The crown prince walked closer to Bei Wei but as soon as he was an arms length a soldier came running and reported an issue.

His demeanor changed making it hard to distinguish which one was the real him.

Bei Wei excused herself taking the chance to escape and went on the direction of the garden where the other ladies are lounging around.

She willed herself to walk calmly but her body has a mind of their own and her eyes sneaked a glance at the crown prince.

To her surprise the prince was also looking at her retreating figure.

She turned her red face so fast that Ling Hua who’s following close behind did not see the exchange.

However, what they did  not realize was the fact that other people may have seen them except for Ling Hua.

Two pairs of jealous eyes retreated in the shadows no one could have known what they were thinking   but the gritting of their teeth is an indication its something far from pleasant.

When Bei Wei reached the garden the redness of her face subsided and from it a cold face displayed itself for the crowd.

It frustrates Bei Wei that she becomes somebody she does not recognize every time the hateful man is within her radar. She could not understand herself as well.

Walking to an empty spot, she can feel all the nobles’ scrutinizing eyes directed towards her. She did not pay it any mind though but what caught her off guard is the beautiful lady that is walking towards her.

She was the same woman that caught the hearts of every man in the banquet hall. Dressed elegantly Bei Wei recognized the woman, she was the only daughter of the Prime minister, Shu Fei Ling.

The woman was beaming from ear to ear but Bei Wei could not return the smile. She feels that there’s something hidden behind that smile. However her stoic face did not betray any emotion and the woman continued towards  her.

“Hello young miss Xue, it is quite a day for your first appearance in public”

Fei Ling greets Bei Wei

“It’s a pleasure to become acquaintance of such a beautiful lady, if I could prevent it I would have stayed hidden to the world.”Bei Wei replied in a straight manner.

“You should have” the prime minister’s daughter replied

Bei Wei did not respond to the remark, trying to gauge what was the real meaning behind those words.

“ The society is harsh afterall, especially to us noble ladies  where we are judged to every action we do”- Fei Ling added

Hearing this, Bei Wei offered a small smile and looked at the woman before her directly in the eyes.

“I thank young miss Shu for the concern but what the society thinks  does not affect me at all”  at her response, the smile on Shu Fei Ling’s face got even wider and for some reason she hated it.

The women that witnessed their exchange whispered at the corners of the garden trying to find out what’s happening.

“Then young miss wouldn’t mind if I accompany you this time? I love to make new friends just like the miss”

Bei Wei only smiled at the offer.

At this Fei Ling stood beside  Bei Wei and the crown just witnessed an otherworldly sight. Two heavenly beauties standing side by side is such a picturesque scene to behold. And the jealousy in the air just thickened.

 “So who do you fancy among the princes young miss?” at this question, Bei Wei turned to the woman beside her.

And all she saw was Fei Ling’s intense eyes.

“So this is what it’s all about” she sighed .
