Chapter ThirteenDieter paced along the sidewalk in front of Herr Noll’s historic, stone mansion. The century-old home overlooked a frost-covered lawn. Spring attempted to make itself known by pushing tiny green shoots through the soil among the garden shrubs. A large fountain graced the courtyard, and statuary stared at him from among the trees.
