Chapter SixIrwin sighed as Earnest braked in front of Shady Hills Hospital. He glanced at Rochelle who sat next to him in the back seat in silence, her face a picture of serenity. How could she be so calm when his stomach buzzed in anticipation? Or was she so adept at hiding her feelings that he would never know her true thoughts?
After hours of discussion, they’d agreed to a trial courtship, and the days passed quickly while they prepared to leave for the hospital. Time for leisure was minimal, but they’d enjoyed a picnic by the harbor and a couple of walks around the farm. But he still knew very little about her.
He stepped out of the car then circled the vehicle and opened her door. Leaning down, he extended his hand, and she grasped his fingers. Warmth stole up his arm at her touch.
