AdventureWe trudged through the wide river, holding our packs, clothes, and armor above the water. I shivered, most of my warmth pulled downstream by the current. Delsaran hummed as if he were in a warm bath, though I now knew what will and training that took. I scanned the far side of the river, hoping to find any trace of the nightbringers. For the past two years, we had followed trails for weeks, sometimes months, and their tracks would disappear somewhere like this river. In the end, we would head back to Greenchapel to resupply and shelter through winter. Finally, we reached the bank. I shook my fur while Delsaran’s hand sluiced the water off his body. We let the sun warm us for a while, then dressed and searched the riverbank. There were rarely any marks on the ground to follow. T
