Morning“Good morning, Chase!” Delsaran bellowed. I shot up and found myself looking into his face. He grinned wildly, sitting on his haunches above me. “I made breakfast!” He thrust a bowl of berries, nuts, seeds, and roots toward my face. I had had the same breakfast almost every day for the past three months. The first several mornings, I looked at it disdainfully, picking at the best-looking pieces to stave off the worst of my hunger. Even now, I could remember the flakey, buttery crusts of the pastries baked every morning in Jon’s manor. But I had adapted to this foraged diet.
