36. Lance - Insecurity

Lance had found his visit to the enclave the previous evening both illuminating and depressing. Illuminating as he could see that a lot of the residents were now thinking about how they could build a life outside of the constraints of living and working all in one closed environment, giving them more choice and ambition than they could have hoped for previously.                 The depressing part was how some were desperate to try and maintain the closed system, mainly those who were older or who had held positions of power. According to Richard, there had been several meetings where the elders had told people not to leave, and that things would be returning to normal any day now. They had also threatened consequences to those who spoke to the authorities or allowed their wives to speak
